All other chips are cool but banana chips has it own separate fan base. 

I know, it brings a broad smile on your face when I say banana chips. Everyone loves banana chips.
Banana chips fan club is divided into three groups. 

1. Red spicy Banana chips fans
2. Yellow Banana chips fans
3. Pepper Banana chips fans

You might be fan of all chips but I know you have a soft corner for one particular banana chips flavor.

Nothing is better than munching freshly made banana chips on a lazy day. It is easy quick snack can be carried during travel, or eaten during fasts or simply as a snack. Banana chips just makes your day.
The reason behind sharing this recipe is because making banana chips is one of my best vacation memories as a kid.
Every year I visit my grandma's place. She'd grown a banana plant/tree in her garden that was for the time I saw a banana plant it is so unique and different from other plants, being curious lil kid I never waited for bananas to ripe so my grandpa use to pluck those nice raw bananas for me and we use to make chips out of them. Though banana plant is difficult to maintain but the fruits are worth it.

Do you know banana plant is also called as " kalp taru"  in sanskrit means wish granting tree. Each and every part of banana tree is useful. 

Another reason to love banana tree is as a kid I always admired and have grown up seeing that huge banana forest that my grandma's neighbor had owned it.

So here I am sharing my favorite easy breasy recipe which can be eating during Navratri fasting.

I am sharing a simple Instant banana pepper chips recipe. That you can prepare at home within 30 mins with very few, just 4 ingredients and easy steps. These chips can be stored for longer time.

Ingredients list for Banana Pepper Chips

Preparation Time :- 5 mins
Cooking Time :- 30 mins

INGREDIENTS LIST

  • 6 ~ Raw Bananas also known as Platains
  • 3 ~ tsp salt
  • 2 ~ pepper powder (Kalimirch powder)
  • Oil for frying

METHOD 

STEP 1 

Make brine :- Take 1 big bowl of water and add 2 tsp of salt and mix it well. Salty water is ready.

STEP 2

Peel Raw Banana/ Plantains skin and slice them thin directly into salty water. Soak raw bananas for about 5-10 mins in salt water.  Salty water will avoid raw bananas from turning brown (oxidized). 

Note :- Slice raw bananas thin in round or long flakes using a slicer or knife this hack will make chips are crispy. After all no one likes non crispy chips.


STEP 3

Meanwhile heat oil for frying on medium flame.

STEP 4

After 5-8 mins of soaking raw bananas in salt water take it out and place it on dry cloth for drying. Let it dry completely for about 5 -10 mins raw bananas would be absolutely perfect for frying.

STEP 5

Put dried raw bananas into hot oil to frying. Make sure to fry your chips on medium flame for 5-7 mins till they turn a bit golden.

If raw bananas are sliced thin. They will turn crispy. Take out chips from the pan and immediately sprinkle pepper powder and some salt (if required)

Your Banana Pepper Chips is ready.

Enjoy and Munch your Banana pepper chips.
These chips can be made into bulk and you can store for 14 days in air tight container.

But if you wish to store them for about 1 month I have mentioned the hack below. Keep reading.

1. Note :- While preparing chips for fasting use sindha namak (salt) instead of normal salt. 

2. Note :- To make yellow chips add 1 spoon of turmeric (haldi) in salt water soak raw round sliced bananas for about 10 mins dry them on a cloth then fry.

3. Note :- for red spicy banana chips. Slice raw bananas/plantains into long flakes soak them in salt water dry on cloth for 10 mins and fry. Instead of pepper sprinkle red chili powder. 

4. Note :- If you wish to store banana chips for a month then. Slice raw bananas soak in salty water for 15 mins, take it out on a cloth and let it dry under sun/fan for 1 day. 
Let it dry completely for a day. As bananas are completely dried you can deep fry them on medium flame make it crispy and let it cool down sprinkle pepper and you can store in air tight box for 1- 2 months months or carry it during travel.

Do give it a shot and make fresh banana chips at home.
