Purple Color and Purple Food
Today's blog post is about Purple food. Yes, Purple food. Nature has so many beautiful colors to offer. And Purple/Violet is one of them. When I say Purple is makes you smile in bliss.
When these two awesome colors Red and Blue combines the royal shade Purple is created. How unique and pleasant this shade is. Look at picture below
Why eat only green when you can also eat Purple. So here are my top easily available Purple foods to include in your daily diet.
- Purple Yam/Purple Potatoes
- Java Plum - Indian Jamun Fruit
- Purple Cabbage
- Aubergine/Eggplant - Big Brinjals
- Purple/Black Grapes
Purple foods are rich in antioxidants.
Here's also sharing some simple ways to consume these.
1.Purple Yam/Purple Potatoes
These are easily available in vegetable markets known as "Suran" in India.
Usually consumed in winters to make mix vegetable sabzi/curry. Also consumed during Indian fasts make French fries out of it or make Sabzi/Curry it's simply yummy.
How to use Purple Yam/Purple Potato
Quick Purple Color French Fries Recipe:-
After peeling the purple color yam/potato skin chop them into jullines and soak it for 10 mins into salt water.
Before using Purple Yam make sure to rub salt and lemon on your hands as it gets itchi on hands.
After 10 mins of soaking deep fry it till crisp. Sprinkle some salt pepper and chilli flakes/powder and enjoy as it is or with mayo or Cheese dip. It is one of the healthier substitute for potatoes having lower starch content.
2. Java Plum - Indian Jamun Fruits
This is a monsoon fruit. Usually available in market during July-Sep. Diabetic patients, Heart disease patients, or people having skin issues should consume Jamun/ Java berries every day to recover fast.

3. Purple Cabbage
This vegetable is so so unique in shade. This one is rich in water content and minerals. Usually used in making appitizers/starters. Do try it by making salads, pasta, noodles, starters or with rice or on bruschetta topping etc.
Simple Purple Cabbage Salad Recepie
Mix some chopped cabbage with chopped salad veges like raw mango, carrots, tomatoes, spring onions, sprinkle some pepper salt squeeze lemon add some dash of mint and crushed peanuts and your purple cabbage salad is ready. Eat as it is or for lunch.
4. Aubergine/Eggplant - Big Brinjals
There is nothing like smoked and roasted Aubergine also known as big Brinjals in India consumed in winters. Be it Oro Rotlo (Smoked Aubergine/brinjal) from Gujrat or Litti Chokha from Uttar Pradesh, India or Begun Bhaja (Brinjal Chips) from Bengal used in many many ways.
5. Purple (Black) Grapes
So best fact about grapes is just pluck from buch and eat. So simple no peeling skin, or no irritating seeds no mess nothing just eat straight away.
Do you know black grapes cultivation is 8000 years old. Black grapes are known to be more healthier. They have good amount of water content and must consume to have glowing skin.
Here's share quick Black Grapes Honey Juice.
In a blender throw two big bowl of black grapes, add in 3 big cups of water, 1 Tbps of honey, 1 Tbps Sugar, pinch of Salt, pinch of Pepper powder, some Lemon juice that's it. Blend it smooth strain it, serve in a glass and drink. Consume it instead of tea/coffee I bet you will feel refreshed.
